Scam Alert – Fraudulent WhatsApp Messages
We want to make our community aware of a current scam targeting job seekers.
We have been notified that individuals and business accounts are impersonating members of the 4DTalent team, primarily via WhatsApp, and contacting people with unsolicited job opportunities. These messages are designed to appear legitimate and may attempt to extract personal or sensitive information.
This scam is unfortunately widespread across the recruitment industry globally and is not the result of any data breach at 4DTalent. The individuals being contacted are not in our systems, and the outreach appears random and well beyond our normal network.
The messages can vary in sophistication. Some misuse consultant names or branding elements, while others are less polished, but the intent and structure are often similar.
How can I tell if a WhatsApp message is genuine?
As a general rule:
• 4DTalent will never initiate first contact via WhatsApp. We would only ever use WhatsApp if we are already in contact with you and you have requested communication via that channel.
• All legitimate communication from us will be linked to a verified 4DTalent email address and a real LinkedIn profile.
• We only recruit Information Technology and Accounting & Finance professionals typically permanent or senior interim positions.
Be cautious if a message:
• Is completely unexpected
• Comes from a number or account you don’t recognise
• Contains links or asks you to move platforms quickly
• Promises unusually high rewards or rapid outcomes
• Requests personal information (such as CVs, ID documents or bank details)
• Is poorly written or contains spelling and grammatical errors
If something feels off, trust your instincts.
If you receive a message claiming to be from 4DTalent and are unsure:
1. Do not engage with the sender
2. Report the account as spam within WhatsApp
3. Block the account
4. Delete the message
You can also forward details or screenshots to info@4dtalent.com.au, and we’re happy to confirm whether it’s a legitimate approach from our team or you can contact us here.
Finally, thank you to everyone who has already alerted us - we appreciate it.
We take our responsibility to candidates seriously and will continue to monitor and report any misuse of our name or brand.
Thank you for your vigilance and for checking with us when something doesn’t feel right.
